“Latvijas Pirmā Rokkafejnīca” (“Latvian First Rockcafe” in English) is a rock-bar, cafe and concert venue based on the original legendary Rock Cafe in Liepaja city (that unfortunately got closed in January 2013).

Located in a historic 17 century house in popular nightlife district of the Old Town on the Mārstaļu street, it is a bar, cafe, restaurant and a rock-club under the same roof.

In a way it is built to look like a famous “Rock Cafe” chain, having a little section with some famous Latvian and foreign musicians displays and music instruments.

Drinks are not that pricey, and the menu offers a fair selection of beers with cocktails. They also serve food in there here (like burgers, ribs, pastas and some meat dishes), with also good prices and portions. Lunch time specials vary on a daily basis, but are very affordable for this location (3.25 – 4.75 from 12:00 till 16:00)

It also acts as a venue for various live music events, so make sure you check the for latest acts on their website. During summer time they assemble a comfortable open-air terrace overlooking the lovely streets of the Old Town. And if you want to work on your laptop, then feel free to use their WiFi (Password: rockcafe88888).

Steph, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. Picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Riga on the commute to and from the bobsleigh track. The g-force bobsleigh was amazing (it feels like a roller-coaster) and we didn't have to wait long. There's also an observation deck where you can view the national park.
The only downside was an error by the office staff overcharging us for the experience, which put a downer on the day, as I was told I wasn't able to do the bobsleigh unless we paid more. This was eventually resolved by the owner when he apologised for the error and confirmed no further payment was needed. I advise you pay the balance in full before the trip to avoid incompetent staff trying to overcharge you.
