Shot Cafe is one of the best bars in Riga’s Old Town if you are into your shot-drinking is and here most definitely you will find any shot you may even think about. This is a great bar with great, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere mainly serving shots (hence the name) but you can get your usual drinks here too but you might get some funny looks from bar tenders if you don’t order a shot! You should try the traditional Latvian “ābolu pīrāgs” or “apple pie” in English (this is a shot of vodka and apple juice topped with cinnamon), a local favorite, for only 1Ls.

The music is also great too – they play everything from James Brown to Prince to Sista Nancy. We tried to leave twice but every time we got outside the DJ would play another great song so we would have to go back in and dance. Word of warning though, the toilet stinks! On the bright side is that this place is always open late and even on Sunday when pretty much everything is either closed or is shut down at 9, this place is still working after 1 am!

In summer time the tables spread onto the plaza on the street and a meal basking in the sun is truly amazing; servings of food include Goulash and Burritos. A great place to spend an evening dancing, although we must admit that Shot Cafe Riga is not the cheapest place in town.

Steph, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. Picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Riga on the commute to and from the bobsleigh track. The g-force bobsleigh was amazing (it feels like a roller-coaster) and we didn't have to wait long. There's also an observation deck where you can view the national park.
The only downside was an error by the office staff overcharging us for the experience, which put a downer on the day, as I was told I wasn't able to do the bobsleigh unless we paid more. This was eventually resolved by the owner when he apologised for the error and confirmed no further payment was needed. I advise you pay the balance in full before the trip to avoid incompetent staff trying to overcharge you.
