Located next to St. Peter’s Church in Riga this New Zealand themed bar is the place to meet locals, expats, tourists and many of those who are not yet familiar with Riga town. Kiwi Bar is a fresh and dynamic place, where most of the day time you will see some customers having a drink, sharing a gossip and news of the day.

Staff is very friendly, that is always willing to help, as well as give their opinion and advice – real Kiwi way (those who’ve been in New Zealand would know). The bar is also managed by New Zealandars, hence the spirit of the country can be seen in the service and design throughout. Selection of beers and snacks is nice, and it is one of the few places in Riga where you can try some of the finest English beverage. Prices are not very high, however just a bit over usual Latvian bars.

If your are hungry, you can always order some food from the bar’s menu and enjoy a meal inside or on the front terrace, which is very nice during summer time. You can always have a traditional Kiwi breakfast here, as well as a burger with chicken wings. We were also quite surprised to find here British favorite “fish and chips” in the menu, probably one of the few places in Riga to offer. If you fancy some exotic food – feel free to order and have some Indian cuisine from the “Indian Rai” restaurant nearby. And, of course, there are a lot of TV screens with good angles, so you never miss an important sports event and watch a match of football, rugby or American football in Riga (which is always nice if you are from abroad). We have watched some of the ice-hockey world championships matches there last year and can guarantee that screens are sound are good.

For Super Bowl Fans in Riga – Kiwi bar is one of the only places hosting a Super Bowl Riga Party and broadcasting at theirs, where you can see this exciting event in Riga on several big screens. Super Bowl showing usually begins at 23.00 local time.

Six Nations is also not neglected and you can be sure that this February, Kiwi Bar will show the matches as always.

Steph, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. Picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Riga on the commute to and from the bobsleigh track. The g-force bobsleigh was amazing (it feels like a roller-coaster) and we didn't have to wait long. There's also an observation deck where you can view the national park.
The only downside was an error by the office staff overcharging us for the experience, which put a downer on the day, as I was told I wasn't able to do the bobsleigh unless we paid more. This was eventually resolved by the owner when he apologised for the error and confirmed no further payment was needed. I advise you pay the balance in full before the trip to avoid incompetent staff trying to overcharge you.
