The Naughty Squirrel Backpackers Hostel is a nice and cosy hostel right in the heart of Riga Old Town, and as claimed by them “places that puts you in the centre of it all”. We can almost agree with that. Located on the little Kaleju street right next to the famous bar Leningrad it might be just slightly off the central streets of the Old Town, but after one day you’ll find it easy to locate yourself around.
The hostel is just a short walk from all Riga’s main monuments, museums, bars, clubs and restaurants. After a recent refurbishment they have two common rooms, a Foosball table and chill-out zone. It is also one of the highest rated hostels in Riga in the “friendliest staff” nomination and we can’t agree more – girls on the reception are really friendly.
What we found really great about this hostel was a lot of freebies:
Free Riga walking tours, Free washing powder with laundry service, Free Foosball, Free postcard mail service, Free popcorn on Movie Nights, Free lockers and locks, Free bed sheets, blankets and towels, Free luggage storage after checkout and free tea all day long. Not bad at all, considering that in many European capitals you have to pay for pretty much everything except your bed.
We also though that their beer prices were okay for an Old Town area – about 1 Ls for a bottle or Latvian or foreign brew, and variety was good.
The hostel offers Private and Shared dorms with 4, 6 and 8 beds and has also several Private Singles, Private Double, Triple and Quad rooms for extended privacy.
