In 2009 the Latvian economy was in crisis, they needed a distraction from every day life to boost their morale. Led by former Mrs. Universe Marika Gederte, the Latvian Blonde Association decided to take action and held their first annual parade of the Blondes through the main square in Riga. The event was so successful they held it again and again.
Thanks to the great interest shown by tourists, Go Blonde organised the fourth festival, this time taking place in Jūrmala on July 13. All tourist recommendations are taken into account and organisers are hoping to arrange an unforgettable and colourful weekend festival for each and every one to participate. The theme of the event is Pink Sensation.
The whole day will feature activities on water and on the beach, Marilyn Monroe lookalike contest, Miss and Mister Australian Gold beauty pageant finale, tennis and golf tournaments, Harley Davidson bike parade. The festival will be concluded with a party all night long, with local celebrities as well as internationally renowned DJs and performers. The festival will be free of charge to attend, only selected closed events will have an entrance fee.
The previous Go Blonde festivals received international media attention, helping Latvia feature on leading news channels with a positive message – “Latvia has found a way to fight the crisis”. German national TV channel 1 created a documentary on Latvian Blondes association. The festival was covered by over 500 internet portals globally, the CNN, as well as the popular lifestyle magazines Glamour, Marie Claire in the USA, Grazia in England and Italy.
The dress code is strictly pink and white and, of course, blonde! Later, ladies and their friends will party at concerts and in varied clubs and venues throughout central and Old Riga.
