Trīs Vīri Laivā (or “Three Men in a Boat” in English) is a lovely bar/pub/cafe in the central part of Riga, named after famous novel Jerome K. Jerome Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog), published in 1889.

The pub is located in the area of Avotu street, a very interesting district, where anyone who ever walked down the street would feel a suddenly change – a place that has nothing to do with with a typical Riga city image. Streets get narrower, buildings get grayer and people around looking much more proletariat alike. However, after entering through the “Trīs Vīri Laivā” doors you would like its interior space – stylish wall decorations and toning, vibrant colors all over the place and special forms of design furniture, all of which constructs an attractive and lovely environment.

For the fans of real British beers, ales and food, this will be a place to go. They serve various ales and stouts on the tap like Bombardier, Young’s, Kew Gold, Special London Ale and etc. And together with that of course come Fish and Chips. In fact, those are not bad at all. Started around 13 years ago, this place went through the renovation and now has got a new crew on board which is keen to make your stay in the cafe very pleasant. They organize karaoke nights, gatherings of photographers, Poetry Day events, “Opium People”. You can watching live sports broadcasts, or participate in the dart tournament held every Monday.

If you are keen to do a live performance in this place, feel free to express your creativity and you apply to live performances on trisvirilaiva@gmail.com e-mail or call +371 28348716. They also offer rooms for banquets, fellowship events, parties.

They also have an outside summer terrace for those chilled evenings.

Steph, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. Picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Riga on the commute to and from the bobsleigh track. The g-force bobsleigh was amazing (it feels like a roller-coaster) and we didn't have to wait long. There's also an observation deck where you can view the national park.
The only downside was an error by the office staff overcharging us for the experience, which put a downer on the day, as I was told I wasn't able to do the bobsleigh unless we paid more. This was eventually resolved by the owner when he apologised for the error and confirmed no further payment was needed. I advise you pay the balance in full before the trip to avoid incompetent staff trying to overcharge you.
