Restaurant “Uzbekistana” (“Uzbekistan” in English) is located slightly off the traditional tourist trail like Old Town of Riga, on the the Bruņinieku street (in English, the “Knights” street).

It is for sure one of the best restaurants serving Central Asian cuisine in Riga, making it always packed, with people starting arriving as early as lunch time. So we advice you to book a table in advance, especially during lunch and evening times.

Its interior is full of various traditional Uzbek design elements – decorations, plates and of course Asian carpets! All staff members are also wearing traditional Uzbek clothes.

Menu in “Uzbenkistan” is represented with a wide selection of classic Central Asian and Uzbek dishes and of course famous spices.

You can also ask to bring a little stove and make your meat grilled right in front of you, while enjoying yourself on a comfortable couch on the summer open-air terrace outside.

The place is quite popular among Riga middle-class people and price levels are very reasonable (2.50 – 15 Ls for a meal) and all staff is fluent in 3 usual for Riga languages (English, Latvian, Russian).

Steph, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. Picked us up from our hotel and told us all about Riga on the commute to and from the bobsleigh track. The g-force bobsleigh was amazing (it feels like a roller-coaster) and we didn't have to wait long. There's also an observation deck where you can view the national park.
The only downside was an error by the office staff overcharging us for the experience, which put a downer on the day, as I was told I wasn't able to do the bobsleigh unless we paid more. This was eventually resolved by the owner when he apologised for the error and confirmed no further payment was needed. I advise you pay the balance in full before the trip to avoid incompetent staff trying to overcharge you.
